My oft repeated Tary Owens story of wondering how my life would have turned out if he had not been late for Pure Funk practice in 1968: Tary played bass, Pepi Plowman sang, Jamie Howell played guitar, amongst others. I was equipment manager. I'd never played bass, but Jamie told me to pick up Tary's Precision and take over until he arrived.
